‘9-1-1: Lone Star’: Everything We Know About Season 5

After 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 concluded more than a year ago, viewers have been (im)patiently awaiting word on what the first responders will be up to.

The show, a 9-1-1 spinoff that aired on ABC before moving to other networks following its sixth season, centers on Austin, Texas’s firemen, paramedics, and dispatchers as they deal with serious emergencies in the community and in their personal lives.

Will Season 5 be released, though? What is currently known about it? Continue reading and return often for updates.

Where Was the End of Season 4?

In May 2023, the Season 4 finale concluded on a poignant and tragic note. Carlos (Rafael Silva) and T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) were married. However, Carlos’ father was murdered, and the perpetrator is still at large. When Owen’s (Rob Lowe) Huntington’s symptoms got severe and he decided to end his life with assistance, he stood by his brother Robert’s (Chad Lowe) side. After an accident left him crippled, Judd (Jim Parrack) applied for early retirement to be his son Wyatt’s (Jackson Pace) full-time caregiver.

After moving to Austin with his kid, a New York firefighter—who was the only person to survive the 9/11 attacks at his Manhattan firehouse—works to save lives while attempting to resolve personal issues.

Is Season 5 of 9-1-1: Lone Star Coming?
Indeed! Two weeks prior to the conclusion of the fourth season, in May 2023, Fox renewed the drama for a fifth.

When Does Season 5 Start Airing?
9-1-1: During the 2023–2024 broadcast season, Lone Star did not return (it had been a midseason show). Instead, it was held for the 2024–2025 season because of the strikes by performers and writers that occurred in the summer of 2023. Fox has scheduled it for fall 2024, and it will air on Mondays at 8/7c.

How many episodes of season five of 9-1-1: Lone Star will there be?

There will be 12 episodes in season 5.

Has Season 5 Filming Begun?
Yes, the actors celebrated the start of production on the new episodes by posting pictures and videos from the set. Production on the new episodes started in March.

What Do We Know About the Season 5 Premiere Emergency?

A train derailment spanning three episodes will usher in Season 5. “Just the scale and spectacle of the train derailment and the arduousness of shooting it,” Rob Lowe exclaimed to TV Insider. Really, I adore it. It is incredibly difficult for me. Although it is a hard, backbreaking slog, I enjoy the challenge and think I can do it. Come on, let us go. I am sixty years old; let us f*ck off. Recognize what I mean? I enjoy it, so the more excruciating—the crawling, the smoke, the carnage—the better. And not everyone should use it. Really, I know a lot of performers who say things like, “I’m not doing that.” However, I adore the outcome. I adore how large it appears. It appears to be a film. Indeed, I believe that everyone will be in complete awe.

Emergency response must attempt to strike a balance between resolving personal issues and protecting the most vulnerable.

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’: Rob Lowe Talks Major Opening Emergency, Chad Lowe Returning & More

You are not the only one who has been (im)patiently waiting for 9-1-1: Lone Star to return. Rob Lowe, who plays Captain Owen Strand in Fox’s fall 2024 lineup, cannot wait for Season 5 to premiere.

At TV Insider’s upfront red carpet, he stated, “We’ve been shooting for two or three months now, so I want to be able to see it already.”

In addition to T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos (Rafael L. Silva) getting married in the Season 4 finale, there were two tragedies that occurred: Owen (Chad Lowe) stood by his brother Robert’s (murderous) side as he passed away (his Huntington’s sickness was getting worse). It aired in May 2023; 9-1-1: Lone Star was not part of Fox’s schedule for the 2023-2024 season at all after the strikes, instead pushed to fall 2024.

Nevertheless, there is no reason to believe that this season—or the one that saw 9-1-1 move to ABC due to economic concerns—could be the final one. Rob Wade, the CEO of Fox Entertainment, told reporters on May 13 that the company would “see how that goes as always, and then make decisions on the future of that franchise.” “But right now, we’re really focused on using that as a springboard for Rescue HI-Surf, a new show that we’re thrilled to have scheduled.”

And given Lowe’s below hints, we are eager to see what is next on 9-1-1: Lone Star!

The wedding at the end of the previous season brought some happiness, but it also brought misery, particularly for Owen and his brother. This season, how is he handling the loss?

Rob Lowe: As one might expect, he still has a lot to deal with. That plot will be reviewed, and there will undoubtedly be consequences. One of my favorite things about the show is that it allows you to execute thrilling rescues in addition to dramatic scenes, and this year we are bringing it.

Speaking of exhilarating rescues, the season opens with a three-episode train derailment. What can you preview and what about it is challenging the 126?

Well, just the enormity of the train disaster, the show it created, and the difficulty of filming it. Really, I adore it. It is incredibly difficult for me. Although it is a hard, backbreaking slog, I enjoy the challenge and think I can do it. Come on, let us go. I am sixty years old; let us f**k off. Recognize what I mean? I enjoy it, so the more excruciating—the crawling, the smoke, the carnage—the better. And not everyone should use it. I mean, there are a lot of actors that I know that are like, “I’m not doing that.” However, I adore the outcome. I adore how large it appears. It looks like a movie. Yeah, I think people are going to be blown away.

Will any 126 members sustain any injuries?

To put it another way, we are constantly in danger.

Jim Parrack, as Judd, was gone. How is Owen filling the vacancy of lieutenant?

I get to choose from among amazing people I adore for that position, which is part of the joy, I suppose. You never know who will win because the competition spans several episodes, and everyone is vying for the position.

Is there a new member entering the 126 then to take the open spot that will become available when someone advances?

People are going to adore our huge surprise, which is coming up. I cannot tell you how it is filled.

What’s going on in Owen’s romantic life?

Owen is currently having difficulty. Owen’s obligation. Owen is past due. He simply does not. By year’s end, hopefully, Owen will have resolved that aspect of his life.

Will any of the Season 5 recurring cast members be back?

Robert, my brother Chad, committed suicide, and we learn more about the actual events on that day. It is quite captivating. It is a moment or two before Chad Lowe returns.

What other things about the season do you hope people will see?

All I can say is that the spectacle excites me much. The breadth and depth of what we may accomplish while still tending to the beloved characters excites me much.

9-1-1: Lone Star, Fox, Season 5, Autumn 2024

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Season 5 Begins Production: See Cast on Set (VIDEO)

Even though the 126 might not return to action until the fall, we do not have to wait for that to watch the cast of 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 in action. With social media posts, the stars have celebrated their return to the set as production has commenced.

Following the May 2023 broadcast of the 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 finale, Fox revealed that the first responder drama would take place when the 2023–2024 season was postponed due to strikes by writers and actors. Now scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2024, Season 5 will feature 12 episodes. Watch the Fox videos below to see the cast having a good time on set.

9-1-1: The wedding and honeymoon of T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos (Rafael Silva) on Lone Star did, at least, surprise viewers, even though Tarlos, the couple that the audience loves the most, did not have the most pleasant ending. Carlos’ father was murdered in the first hour, and the case is still pending. Then, when his Huntington’s symptoms grew worse in the second hour, Owen (Rob Lowe) gave in to what his brother Robert (Chad Lowe) wanted: to be with him as he passed away. T.K. was only recently introduced to his uncle.

But there are a lot of unanswered questions for Season 5 aside from who killed Gabriel. Jim Parrack’s character Judd quit the 126 to take up full-time caregiving duties for his son Wyatt (Jackson Pace), who suffered an accident that left him crippled but still making progress. Will he return? And at the conclusion of Season 4, Trevor (D.B. Woodside) and Tommy (Gina Torres) were still going strong. Do they remain in a relationship? There is also the issue of 9-1-1 switching to ABC, which lessens the possibility of any more crossovers. But could any of the characters be mentioned on either show?
