The latest teaser for the upcoming thriller Bagm an is now out. Sam Claflin plays Patrick McKee in the Colm McCarthy-directed film. Lionsgate has now unveiled the Bagman trailer.

The trailer begins by introducing the character of the “Bagman” who is “common to almost every culture.” The boogeyman-like Bagman figure eats children, luring them with “toys or candy” and allegedly “preferring those that are nice.” In the twisted storybook tale, it is revealed that he gets his name from his technique, that involves whisking children away in a bag. After introducing the villain, the Bagman trailer introduces Claflin as the protagonist, who is haunted by this story, and later by Bagman when he returns.

Summary

  • The trailer has been released for the upcoming horror-thriller Bagman.
  • Bagman faces stiff box office competition in September.
  • The trailer seems to conceal the film’s main scares, building anticipation for the release.

Bagman Releases in A Busy Time for Horror

Bagman Will Have Stiff Box Office Competition

The majority of the film’s primary horrors are expertly hidden in the Bagman trailer. At the end of the trailer, Bagman’s crazy smile—which is hidden by a dark hoodie—is revealed, revealing his scissors, but the entirety of his face remains hidden. Bagman also plays with the scary-story-becomes-reality horror trope, similar to horror successes like The Babadook, as Patrick’s trauma is turned into a horrifying reality during the film’s narrative.

Bagman is scheduled for release on September 20, which is ahead of the main Halloween season surge. However, Bagman is going out during a very competitive period at the box office, even with this release date. On September 20 alone, the Brad Pitt and George Clooney action movie Wolfs is being released, along with the upcoming Transformers One. September 20 will also see the release of The Substance, a high-concept Demi Moore horror film that has gotten strong early reviews.

Bagman comes out on September 20 in addition to these other releases, which coincide with the most competitive month for horror films this year. The Front Room, which releases on September 6, will start the eerie September. Speak No Evil is scheduled for release the following week, and it will pose competition for Bagman just as it did during its opening weekend. The horror-thriller Never Let Go is released on September 27, the weekend following Bagman’s debut. Even though Bagman’s trailer seems promising, it will have competition from a long list of horror films during its competitive release month.

Speak No Evil Remake Trailer Teases More Changes to Critically Acclaimed Original

Speak No Evil has a new trailer out. Speak No Evil, an upcoming horror film, is based on a 2022 Danish film and tells the story of two families vacationing together in the countryside who experience a nightmare when they start to experience growing darkness. James Watkins is the director of Speak No Evil, which stars James McAvoy, Mackenzie David, Scott McNairy, Aisling Franciosi, Alix West Lefler, and Kris Hitchen among its prominent cast members.

Blumhouse has just unveiled the second Speak No Evil trailer.

The fast-paced trailer begins with a moment of panic, as Davis’ Louise scares her husband when she is grabbing a box cutter and encouraging the family to leave the house. Louise and Ben then feign calmness when Ciara, the wife of the other couple, calls to check in on them. The scene then shows how they got there, with Paddy and Ciara inviting the couple into their countryside home. As more and more unsettling interactions occur between the two couples, Louise and Ben look to flee, but discover that they are trapped in this home, replete with its increasing eeriness.

Summary

  • The latest Speak No Evil trailer has been released, featuring James McAvoy in a disturbing performance.
  • The Blumhouse adaptation differs from the Danish original by changing settings and character origins.
  • The 2022 Danish film received positive reviews, setting high expectations for the English-language adaptation.

How Will Speak No Evil Live Up to The Original?

The Original Was Praised by Critics

The most recent image of Speak No Evil suggests how the Blumhouse production will differentiate itself from the Danish original. Differences between the two versions of the tale have already been pointed up since the first Speak No Evil teaser was released. The primary distinction is in the shift from a Danish and Dutch family to an American and British family, as well as the setting from Scandinavia to the UK. The two families’ cultural distinctions from those in the first movie are emphasized even further in the most recent teaser, which highlights their British and American identities.

Speak No Evil has a lot of big shoes to fill when adapting the tale. The 2022 Danish film received good reviews, getting a universally positive 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics praised the Danish film’s supple social commentary, as well as the tone and suspense that it crafted. Audiences did not like the film as well, giving it a mixed 55% approval rate. Translated into an English-language movie, Speak No Evil might struggle to capture the same energy as the original.

That said, there is a lot to look forward to in the upcoming Speak No Evil adaptation. For one, the trailers alone show McAvoy in what looks to be a deliciously disturbing performance in his role. The actor has previously shown strength in the genre through the film Split, where he exhibited his ability to play a complex but unsettling character in a horror film context. Surrounded by an unnerving tone, McAvoy’s performance can help elevate Speak No Evil.

Films To Watch If You Liked the Babadook

In 2014, Jennifer Kent made her directorial debut with the horror movie The Babadook. The Australian sleeper success is regarded by many as one of the best recent horror movies. It centers on a newly bereaved mother who is juggling her career and raising her moody child, who is prone to severe mood swings. One night, when she’s reading him a terrifying bedtime story, a supernatural entity awakens and begins to haunt the family’s home and dreams.

Making good use of jump scares and sound effects and with top-notch performances from both its leads, The Babadook succeeds in providing a genuinely haunting, moving story based on grief, and these 10 tales of terror weave similar narratives.

His House (2020)

Netflix’s Halloween debut In His House, the horror subgenre of haunted houses is combined with actual trauma. The focus of the Blumhouse production is a South Sudanese refugee couple. They leave the fighting behind and move into an apartment in London to begin a new life. But as it becomes clear that the couple is grieving the loss of their kid, spirits from their native country haunt them.

The flat’s owners go into a frenzy as long-kept secrets and curses are disclosed. His House is noteworthy for its masterful fusion of the old and the new, with a captivating tale and exquisitely grotesque frames.

Evil Dead II (1987)

In Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead, a bunch of friends play a succession of odd audiotapes, causing spirits in a haunted cabin to emerge. The protagonist Ash Williams’ lover plays an audio recitation of old literature that unleashes multiple demons that possess Williams in Raimi’s Evil Dead II sequel, repeating the same clichés.

With the employment of inventive stop-motion animation for the demonic forces, the movie surpasses its predecessor. The follow-up similarly employs dark humor to parody well-known horror clichés. Cool.

It: Chapter Two (2019)

It Chapter Two discusses the trauma that a group of friends experience after coming into contact with the cosmic evil entity Pennywise, or “It,” in keeping with the Stephen King novel on which it is based. The buddies get back together 27 years after their experience with It, following the suicide death of one of them. They cooperate to finally vanquish the shape-shifting clown after sensing the presence of the evil power.

Even though it seems to have fewer horrors than its predecessor, It Chapter Two manages to convey the characters’ desperation to overcome their deepest fears and dreams, right down to a VFX-heavy conclusion.

Ringu (1998)

With his directing of the Japanese classic Ringu, better known as Ring, which garnered even more fame from a Hollywood adaptation, Hideo Nakata made waves in the horror community. A videotape discovered by a reporter is said to be cursed and has a seven-day kill window after viewing.

The film explores themes of introspection and terrible scares in its exciting plot. Japan has complex concerns about current technology because ancient entities are employing the same technology as the medium to carry out their terrible actions.
