Every Upcoming Marvel Movie: Full MCU Phase 5 & 6 List (& beyond)

Every Upcoming Marvel Movie: Full MCU Phase 5 & 6 List (& beyond)

The powerful Marvel has multiple confirmed release dates for upcoming films, and even more beyond that. In addition to the impending Phases 5 and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will further the Multiverse Saga, Sony Pictures Entertainment is planning to carry on with the live-action development of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Sony is currently developing further Spider-Verse projects, such as Venom 3, Kraven the Hunter, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Following the release of Avengers: Endgame in 2019, superhero narrative on the big screen underwent a significant transformation. The Multiverse Saga was unveiled by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige at SDCC 2022, and despite a number of production setbacks, the company’s plan for the MCU timeline appears to be proceeding as planned. Following its trend of spotlighting Spider-Man villains, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is also set to expand even further, with several new projects releasing in the coming years.

Summary

  • Marvel Studios has a lineup of upcoming movies that will expand the MCU Multiverse Saga in Phases 5 and 6.
  • Sony Pictures Entertainment is also expanding its live-action Spider-Man Universe, with new projects such as Kraven The Hunter and Venom: The Last Dance, which may feature appearances by Spider-Man.
  • Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will reunite in Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel Studios’ first R-rated project, set to release on July 26, 2024.

Venom: The Last Dance – October 25, 2024

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe

Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote are slated to make a comeback in Venom: The Last Dance, which is slated for release on October 25, 2024. This date has been changed twice, first from July 12, 2024, and then again from November 8, 2024, to its current final release date. This is after Brock and the Venom symbiote defeated Carnage and Riot in Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, respectively.

It’s uncertain who villain Venom will have to take down next after being cast by Doctor Strange and swiftly returning from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s possible that Venom 3 will connect with other characters in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, like Morbius or Kraven the Hunter, and the film may finally feature an appearance by Spider-Man now that Venom has seen him on TV in another universe.

Venom: The Last Dance (2024)

Venom: The Last Dance is the third and final installment in Sony’s symbiote trilogy starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. It follows the events of Let There Be Carnage, where the anti-hero fought serial killer Cletus Kasady, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Brock was briefly transported to the MCU through the multiverse.

Kelly Marcel is the director.

Date of Release: 25 October 2024

The cast includes Tom Hardy, Stephen Graham, Alanna Ubach, Rhys Ifans, Juno Temple, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Kraven The Hunter – December 13, 2024

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe

Kraven The Hunter – December 13, 2024

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe

The next Kraven the Hunter film, which will expand the universe created by Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius, is slated for release on August 30, 2024, following multiple postponements. Since Kraven the Hunter is the first Spider-Man movie in Sony’s R-rated universe, it is anticipated that it would have more realistic and severe violence than Sony’s prior Marvel films.

Sony is hoping that the somewhat more grounded villain played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson can revive faith in their annexation of the Marvel movie universe following the debacle of Madame Web. It’s also plausible that Spider-Man, also known as Peter Parker from the MCU, will make an appearance in Kraven the Hunter; however, neither Sony nor Marvel Studios have made any confirmation of this.

Kraven the Hunter is the fourth movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, set in the same Marvel continuity as Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius. Played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the titular Kraven goes on a solo adventure as an anti-hero, this time independent of his comic book counterpart’s crusade to hunt down Peter Parker.

Captain America: Brave New World – February 14, 2025

Marvel Cinematic Universe

One of the most significant upcoming Marvel films is Captain America: Brave New World, which stars Anthony Mackie as the MCU’s Captain America for the first time on the big screen. The next Captain America film from Marvel is now set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. It was originally supposed to come out in May 2024 and then again in July 2024.

Phase 5’s next Captain America movie, originally titled New World Order, is anticipated to feature Sam Wilson and Joaquin Torres, the MCU’s new Falcon, facing off against the Leader (again, played by Tim Blake Nelson, who was last seen in The Incredible Hulk) and facing off against Thaddeus Ross, the newly appointed President of the United States. Now portrayed by Harrison Ford after the passing of the late William Hurt, Ross’ role in Brave New World will potentially set him up for further appearances in Thunderbolts and beyond.

Story details so far have revealed that Ross will ask Wilson to bring together a new Avengers team, possibly with ulterior motives. There will also be more to the super soldier story, as Carl Lumby’s Isaiah Bradley will be revealed as the victim of a mysterious mind control plot designed to assassinate the president.

The new Captain America: Brave New World trailer revealed that President Ross will be transforming into the MCU’s Red Hulk within the story of the movie, making the long-awaited event a reality for the franchise. The 2024 San Diego Comic – Con and its Marvel panel also brought the news that Giancarlo Esposito will be playing Sidewinder in the upcoming installment – bringing the Serpent Society into its story, since he is their leader – and also revealed that adamantium will be introduced in the release, with the material in the MCU being what the bodies of Celestials are made out of.

Captain America: Brave New World (formerly titled New World Order) marks Sam Wilson’s first MCU big-screen appearance as Steve Rogers’ successor after receiving the suit and shield in Phase 4’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Anthony Mackie returns as the titular Avenger alongside Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Carl Lumby as Isaiah Bradley, and Tim Blake Nelson as The Incredible Hulk’s former ally Samuel Sterns. Harrison Ford makes his MCU debut replacing the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross.

Thunderbolts* – May 2, 2025

Marvel Cinematic Universe

The Thunderbolts* cast, which will include adversaries and villains from earlier Marvel Studios productions, will go on an unidentified mission for the US government in a masterful departure for the MCU. Thunderbolts is the only opportunity to witness a big team form prior to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, as no Avengers crossover films are scheduled until Phase 6. However, this is anticipated to feel significantly different from the Avengers in the MCU.

Released on May 2, 2025 (originally scheduled for July 25, 2025 alongside The Fantastic Four, but pushed back from a December 2024 publication date), Thunderbolts* is anticipated to provide an explanation for CIA Director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s hiring of a number of dubious characters. The movie is also rumored to feature the likes of the Sentry and the Red Hulk, with the former theory gaining more traction after it was revealed at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con that Lewis Pullman’s character is known as “Bob”, in what may be a reference to Sentry’s full name, Robert Reynolds.

The 2024 San Diego Comic-Con additionally revealed more about the plot of Thunderbolts*, seemingly showing that US Agent has a child, and giving a look at Yelena and Alexei’s reunion following Black Widow. The footage also shows Bucky in congress, building on his personal story in the wake of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Not Yet Rated

Marvel’s Thunderbolts is a superhero movie based on the comic team of the same name. The movie acts as a part of the MCU’s fifth phase of films.
