Matt Damon Knows People Think Jesse Plemons Is His Celeb Look-Alike. One Moment Even He Had to Admit It’s True

One of the most known faces in Hollywood is undoubtedly Matt Damon’s. Having shot to stardom with Good Will Hunting, he went on to become an A-list celebrity and even more well-known with roles in the Jason Bourne series, Saving Private Ryan, and The Departed. But there’s another actor that gets confused for the Oscar winner all the time. Jesse Plemons, a former member of Breaking Bad, is frequently likened to Damon, and I can understand why. Damon has had enough of such gossip and recognizes the similarity in himself. Furthermore, he recently related a story about the realization that they had more in common than not.

The Bostonian recently spoke with Access Hollywood about his new movie, The Instigators, featuring Casey Affleck. Jesse Plemons, who recently starred in the movie Kinds of Kindness, has previously spoken with the publication about being mistaken for the Martian actor, the interviewer mentioned. At that point, Plemons was cast to portray a younger version of Matt Damon’s character in All the Pretty Horses, and Damon acknowledged that he had noticed the facial resemblance. He even disclosed that this had happened more than 25 years prior.

As the actor clarified, “Sure, yeah, yeah, absolutely [I see the resemblance],” the similarity was reportedly even more obvious back then. Additionally, it was hilarious when he was younger because, as I recall, the cast of All the Pretty Horses was freaking out when he visited the scene. Before I even met him, like, five or six people approached me and said, “You’re not going to believe how much this kid looks like you.” I went to meet him, and I wish there was a picture of us together. I was in shock when the stills photographer captured a photo of the two of us. “He looks more like me than I did when I was little,” I thought to myself. My little eleven-year-old face, for example, did not appear to be going to He had my exact appearance. I thought, “This is so strange.” But as an actor, he excels. I love what he’s done, the choices he makes. He’s incredible to watch, so I’m proud of the comparison.

The resemblance is obvious, and I can imagine how a young Jesse Plemons may have looked like he would grow up to resemble Matt Damon. This was good casting, and I’d love to see that still of the two of them on set together. While they certainly look similar now, both actors still have their own unique vibes, so it wouldn’t be super confusing if the two ever decided to share a screen.

The two celebrities playing family members in the future really appealed to me. Even Casey Affleck concurred, pointing out that the two have similar demeanours. It would be a treat to watch them share a screen because they are both such talented people. The Air star is amenable to it, but it doesn’t seem like directors have tried casting them together yet. He declared:

He seems so much younger than I am. He must be twenty years my junior, or very nearly so. However, I would really like to do anything with him. He’s fantastic, in my opinion.

The two are in a difficult situation. The actors are slightly too close in age to represent father and son, but too far away to play brothers, with a 17-year age difference. Still, it seems like a lost chance to not team these two up on a project. Given that Matt Damon has worked with both Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg, they both enjoy working with auteur filmmakers. Jesse Plemons, meantime, has collaborated with artists such as Yorgos Lanthimos and Paul Thomas Anderson. There may be a chance for a reunion because they both have a shared past with Martin Scorsese. I’m hoping casting directors will take notice of Damon’s apparent interest.

The celebrities’ likenesses go beyond their attractive features; they are both in demand and extremely busy. Plemons will co-star with Robert De Niro in the Netflix miniseries Zero Day, in addition to starring in Lanthimos’ upcoming 2025 film Bugonia. A number of other projects are in the works for Damon, including the thrillers RIP and Animals, which he and Ben Affleck are co-producing and are currently in pre-production under their joint production business. It might take some time before Damon and Plemons collaborate on a project because they have so many going on, but I think it’s great that they’re both accepting of their twin status.

You can see Matt Damon in The Instigators, which will be available to stream with an Apple TV+ subscription on August 2nd. Fans can also see Jesse Plemons in Kinds of Kindness, which is still playing in theaters nationwide. Apologies To Matt Damon, But Everyone Thinks He Has a Celebrity Look-Alike

Many famous people are misidentified as other famous people. Fans mistake Daniel Radcliffe for Elijah Wood frequently, and social media users become viral for resembling A-list celebrities. Ben Stiller is thought to look like Adam Sandler. I apologize to Matt Damon, but it appears that Jesse Plemons from Civil War is the other star who gets confused for him.

Jimmy Kimmel, the talk show host, is still picking on Matt Damon on Jimmy Kimmel Live! He even had his comic sidekick, Guillermo Rodriguez, put Kimmel’s most recent guest, Jesse Plemons, in a jail cell because people thought he was the star that the talk show host often poked fun at. Following his release, Plemons told Kimmel the truth about how one woman had mistaken the Black Mirror actor for Damon:

I’ve been kind of haunted by that for a little while. About ten years ago, at the Toronto Film Festival, I was entering an elevator when I noticed that, as is common at festivals, people were scanning the area to see who they could recognize. And she said to me, “Are you Matt Damon?” “No,” I replied. Sorry, but I’m not. She gave me a look that said, “Wow, Matt Damon is a liar.” And I was uncomfortable.

It’s amusing that a woman believed “Matt Damon” wasn’t who he claimed to be! Hey, there are worse people to think you’re someone else. Although I could never have drawn a comparison between the two performers’ likenesses, I can see why people would get confused because they both have a similar grin and kind personality. Looking at Damon’s best films, you’ll see that he’s been involved in a number of motion pictures that have influenced his career, including The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Martian, The Bourne Identity flicks, and most recently, Oppenheimer.

Not to be overlooked is Good Will Hunting. A cool behind-the-scenes fact about the movie would have to be the Hollywood actor writing the screenplay for a Harvard playwriting class put together with his childhood friend, Ben Affleck. Their collaboration got them Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars and their careers took off from there.

According to Jesse Plemons, he genuinely doesn’t think he looks like Matt Damon. However, he did say that his mother always thought her son would look like Damon when he grew up after viewing Good Will Hunting. Evidently, the team behind All the Pretty Horses, one of the best adaptations of Cormac McCarthy, recognized a striking likeness between the two and cast Plemons as Damon’s younger self. Sadly, their likeness would not be shown to viewers in the Western film. The Game Night actor stated that he was unaware of his removal from the film until he witnessed it for himself:

It was, at the moment, the most thrilling part I had gotten, you know, western-wise—even with Matt Damon. When the movie was about to come out, my mother called the nearby theater and asked them to host a special screening only for us. I was going to be in the opening scene of the movie, so I invited this girl I was crushing on. When we finally settle down, I’m not there. We can’t help but wonder, “Well, maybe they changed it in the edit.” And throughout the entire event, we sat, and I never appeared.

Jimmy Kimmel and the Fargo star made jokes about how Matt Damon had to be involved in the trimmed scene. You shouldn’t worry, though, because the gifted performer succeeded in Hollywood without the help of All the Pretty Horses. The three roles that the Academy Award candidate will play in the anthology film Kinds of Kindness are indicative of a busy future ahead of him. Even though it didn’t make the cut, I’m sure he’ll always remember that one of his first gigs was portraying a younger Matt Damon.

I apologize to Matt Damon, but it appears that some people mistake Jesse Plemons for the actor from Saving Private Ryan. If you’re among the fans who are perplexed by their resemblance, keep in mind that Plemons, not Damon, will be appearing in the 2024 film Kinds of Kindness, which opens in theaters on June 21.
