A new Netflix series called Kaos aims to reinvent the Greek gods.
We now finally know that the highly anticipated Netflix series Kaos, which aims to present an alternative portrayal of the Greek gods, will premiere in August.
Writer and actor Charlie Covell, most known for his highly acclaimed black comedy-drama The End of the F***ing World, is back with an intriguing eight-part series.
Hugh Grant was supposed to play the lead role, but Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic World: Dominion took his place a few weeks later.
Date of release for Kaos
Netflix will launch Kaos on August 29, 2024.

Who is in the cast of Kaos?
Leading the ensemble is Jeff Goldblum as Zeus, the King of the Gods. Netflix claims that up until a certain point, his portrayal of the monarch is “cruel, stylish, and all-powerful”
Goldblum is by no means the only well-known figure in this. As Zeus’s brother Hades, who is losing control over the underworld as a few wandering souls have grown restless while waiting to be processed, David Thewlis (Landscapers) is joining the cast.
Hera, Queen of the Gods, played by Ozark’s Janet McTeer, will have to act as her control over her husband weakens due to his developing neurosis. Dionysus, the wayward son of Zeus, is portrayed as Nabhaan Rizwan (Station Eleven) and is rumored to be headed for a cosmic collision with his father.
Cliff Curtis, who starred in Avatar: The Way of Water, plays Poseidon. Poseidon, the God of the Sea, Storms, Earthquakes, and Horses, is more preoccupied with his superyacht and where the next big party will be than he is with Earth’s pleas for reform.
The four mortals are all somewhat involved in the conflict with Zeus, thus the gods’ passivity will not go unopposed. Even if Riddy (played by Aurora Perrineau), Ari (Leila Farzad), Canues (Misia Butler), and Orpheus (Killian Scott) come from quite different backgrounds, one of them may be destined to dethrone Zeus.
There will also be a brief cameo appearance by Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie). Although their involvement is unknown, Stanley Townsend (The Current War) and Rakie Ayola (The Pact) are also involved.
Debi Mazar, star of Entourage, is among the cast members. She portrays Medusa in Kaos’s version.
Kaos plot
The creators tease: “Zeus’ reign has never really been in danger because he has long relished his position as King of the gods. That is, until one morning when he sees a wrinkle on his forehead upon waking up. Fearing it is a sign from an old curse predicting his demise, neurosis takes hold, and Zeus starts to believe his downfall is imminent. The god of gods, seeing signs everywhere, begins to dangerously self-destruct as his paranoia takes hold.
“He has good reason to be concerned. Prometheus, a former ally of Zeus who is currently imprisoned, is preparing a scheme to destroy him. Three dissimilar humans are involved in the scheme; none of them realizes their cosmic significance or their role in saving the planet. (Some pressure, but not much)”
Does Kaos have a trailer?
Indeed! We saw Kaos for the first time on March 19, 2024. It offers us a peek of this redesigned Zeus and his opulent realm, contrasting its bucolic setting with the mayhem on Earth. Look at it below:
Netflix Reveals Kaos Release Date & New Images of Jeff Goldblum as Modern Day Zeus
Finally, more information about Jeff Goldblum’s portrayal as Zeus in Netflix’s upcoming comedy series KAOS has surfaced, including a new image of the Jurassic Park actor in the role of the Greek god. Charlie Covell, the creator of The End of the F***king World, is bringing a series to Netflix on August 29, 2024, when every episode will be available on the same day. Zeus is portrayed by the streamer as “an all-powerful being who’s determined to hold onto that status by any means necessary,” suggesting that Zeus’s persona will be one of the most interesting aspects of the show to follow. Not only because of the adored actor, either.
In addition to the significant revelation, Netflix unveiled new pictures of KAOS, which takes place in the present day and stars Janet McTeer as Hera and Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus, the God of Wine and Ecstasy. Stanley Townsend as Minos, Misia Butler as Caneus, Leila Farzad as Ari, Aurora Perrineau as Riddy, and Killian Scott as Orpheus make up the remaining cast.

Studio: Brightstar, Sister, All3Media
KAOS is set in the current era, when the pantheon of immortals and mortals converge to create an intriguing universe, in contrast to what one might anticipate from the classic myth of Zeus and his Olympians. The series is described by Netflix as follows:
“As the King of the Gods, Zeus resides at the summit of the mythological food chain and has done so for a considerable amount of time. Then one day he notices the unimaginable: a furrow on his brow. The ultimate divinity travels down a perilous and unstable path as paranoia grows. Zeus believes his downfall is imminent and perceives signs of bad luck everywhere. The rest of Zeus’ family is plotting and failing in their own ways while he fights his worst fears.
Zeus’s cunning spouse, Hera (Janet McTeer from Ozark); his convoluted brothers, Hades (David Thewlis from Landscapers) and Poseidon (Cliff Curtis from Avatar: The Way of Water); and his disobedient son, Dionysus (Nabhaan Rizwan from Industry).”

In brief
Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus in Netflix’s KAOS, which debuts on August 29, 2024.
The show, which is set in the present era, examines Zeus’s power struggles and paranoia.
Star-studded cast members of Charlie Covell’s KAOS include Janet McTeer and Nabhaan Rizwan.
The Story of the Greek God Zeus in Contemporary Times is Told by KAOS
Because their marriage was built on violence and deceit, the show will focus on Zeus’s developing obsession with the idea of losing power and his accompanying paranoia, which has many unintended repercussions. One such consequence is Hera’s plot to assassinate him. Dionysus, on the other hand, is portrayed as Zeus’s favored son who, after years of being ignored and treated like a kid, finds himself yearning for more power. This desire will undoubtedly result in activities meant to aggravate his father, but they could have disastrous consequences.
Due to schedule conflicts, Goldblum was chosen to play Zeus in place of the legendary British actor Hugh Grant. Zeus, fortunately, seems like a part that was meant for Goldblum, especially considering the actor’s unwavering magnetism on screen. From Seth Bundle in The Fly to The Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarök, the actor has portrayed colorful characters throughout his career, demonstrating that Covell and his vision are ultimately responsible for showcasing his abilities.
Netflix will launch KAOS on August 29, 2024. A preview of the series is available below.
Hugh Grant, David Thewlis Board Modern Greek Mythology Series ‘Kaos’
It appears that Netflix is assembling quite the ensemble for its pantheon of Greek gods. According to Deadline, the streamer has recruited a star-studded ensemble for its next mythological series Kaos, which is written by Charlie Covell, the author of The End of the F***ing World. Hugh Grant, Janet McTeer, Cliff Curtis, David Thewlis, and numerous others are in the cast.
“Bold, darkly comic, contemporary take on Greek mythology” is how Kaos is being characterized. The show will center on Grant’s portrayal of Zeus, the king of the Greek gods, who is shown to be both supremely strong and terribly insecure. When Zeus wakes up and notices wrinkles on his face, he gets suspicious and thinks this means his rule is about to end.
Thewlis, who plays Hades, the God of the Underworld, is also shown in the pantheon. Hades is gradually losing control over his domain as more and more corpses start to appear. McTeer will portray Hera, the queen of the gods, Zeus’s wife, and the true head of the gods, whose authority is in jeopardy due to Zeus’s paranoia. Poseidon, the ocean god portrayed by Curtis, is lost, and just concerned with having fun.
Grant’s most well-known roles are from the movies Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, and About a Boy. In addition, he received a recent Emmy nomination for his work in the HBO series The Undoing. Thewlis is well-known for his parts in the Fargo and Harry Potter television series. Actress McTeer, who has been nominated for an Academy Award twice, has recently garnered recognition for her roles in the television shows Ozark and Sorry for Your Loss. Curtis, who will star in the eagerly awaited Avatar: The Way of Water, is best known for the movies Sunshine and Training Day.
Nabhaan Rizwan, who plays Dionysus, the son of Zeus and the God of Wine, who is “out of control and on course for a cosmic collision with his father,” will also appear in the series. Misia Butler, Leila Farzad, Aurora Perrineau, and Killian Scott will portray a group of mortals who have grown weary of Zeus’ reign and band together to find a means of overthrowing him. It has also been revealed that Billie Piper, Stanley Townsend, and Rakie Ayola have been cast in unspecified roles.
Covell is the author and creator of Kaos, and the television series is produced by Sister and Anthem. Georgi Banks-Davies has committed to act as both the series’ executive producer and primary director. There are rumors that Runyararo Mapfumo has agreed to helm a couple of the show’s episodes as well.
Concerning the cast of the show and Grant’s casting, Covell stated the following:
“I’m ecstatic to be creating KAOS, and I can’t imagine a more vibrant and interesting group of individuals to make it all come to pass. I am thrilled to be collaborating with both Georgi and Runyararo, as they are both brilliant filmmakers with pleasantly dark senses of humor. I think I am still in disbelief that Hugh Grant will be playing Zeus because this was always my dream role. He is directing an incredible group of performers, and we are incredibly grateful to have them all involved. I am eager for the filming to start.
