As revealed by Netflix on July 9, the reality survival series The Influencer will debut on August 6. To determine who can have the most effect, the show puts 77 South Korean influencers against one another. Son Soo-Jeong and Lee Jae-Seok are the creators.
A teaser trailer features TikToker Xiajiu, who has 27.5 million followers, along with Korean celebrities Jang Geun-Seok, influencers Risabae, Pain Bottle, Jin Yong-jinn, Shim Eidem, and Daedo Library.
With The Influencer, Netflix is introducing a new idea to the play, following the global popularity of other Korean reality series like Physical: 100, Siren: Survive the Island, Zombie verse, and The Devil’s Plan. The theme of the show suggests the difficult and surprising tasks that lie ahead.

The Influencer, which premieres on August 6, features 77 competitors with a combined following of 120 million across many social media platforms, such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Africa.
In the teaser trailer for The Influencer, the competitors are seen flaunting their following counts, which are shown on bands around their necks. The competitors appear to be in fierce competition because they are seen getting their eyebrows shaved, dressing up for performances, and sometimes breaking down in tears.
The show’s originator, producer Lee Jae-Seok, outlined his concept for it. He declared:
“I thought it would be interesting to gather influencers in one place who are divided based on algorithms. Along with witnessing the biggest influencers in Korea, you’ll engage in never-before-seen social survival missions and unique entertainment delivered by Netflix’s expansive scope and stunning visuals.”

The influencers range from well-known first-generation producers to Gen Z TikToker with sizable followings throughout the globe. They will have to overcome several obstacles to be crowned ‘the best influencer.’ While the names of all 77 influencers have not been released, among them some famous names can be found. One prominent figure is Jang Geun-Seok, the South Korean actor and singer who appeared in You’re Beautiful.
Another known face is Risabae, the Korean make-up YouTuber, and Pain Bottle, the travel YouTuber. Joining them will be Jin Yong-jinn, film director, rapper, and YouTuber, Shim Euddeum, the Pilates instructor, and social media star who appeared in Physical: 100 season 1, and Xiajiu, the TikToker with 27.7 million followers.

Park Seo-Joon and Han So-hee will make a comeback in Goings-on Creature’s second part. Instead of the past, the tale will take place in the present day. The show is expected to be released in the second half of the year. Season 2 of Squid Game is also set to release this December. With Seong Gi-Hun, Lee Jung-jae’s character having unfinished business, the story continues as he tries to confront the orchestrators of the brutal game.
Sweet Home 3 is also expected to be released this month on July 19, 2024. The fight between monsters and humans takes a different turn now. Moreover, there is an unexpected twist as an enormously powerful monster emerges in the new season.

Decider suggested to “stream it,” writing: “The Influencer is a pleasant, romantic telenovela that will show the main couple navigate conflicts small and large on their journey. We just wonder how the writers are going to make Maritza and Salvador into a believable-looking couple.”
Elsewhere, Midgard Times said that despite its weaknesses, “The Influencer manages to strike a chord with its probing take on the societal obsession with online validation.
