‘Interview With the Vampire’ Stars on Film: See Photos Taken by Jacob Anderson & More
When the cast of Interview with the Vampire visits the TV Insider offices, it is always a fantastic time. When we learned that Louis (Jacob Anderson) was branching out into photography in Season 2, and that this amazing cast would be visiting us, the wheels in my head began to turn.
Fans of Interview with the Vampire frequently refer to the characters as family (although a wicked and twisted one!). I recently acquired my mother’s old film camera, a Canon AE-1 Program (the second generation of the 35mm Canon AE-1), and I was eager to grab some film images of Anderson, Sam Reid, Assad Zaman, Delainey Hayles, and Eric Bogosian while they were in the TV Insider studio. I wanted the performers to take them themselves as a tribute to Louis’ Parisian pastime. What I did not realize was the relationship between the Canon AE-1 and Interview with the Vampire.
The Canon AE-1 was released in April 1976, coincidentally with the publication of Anne Rice’s novel Interview with the Vampire. This was clearly kismet. I informed the cast of the link, handed Anderson the camera, and they were off.
Here are all the film images of the stars of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire, taken by their co-stars using a camera as old as the story that inspired it all.

This photo is more of a blooper, but it is amusing to note that Zaman focused the lens on Anderson at just this moment.

Interview With the Vampire (2022)
In 1910 New Orleans, Louis de Pointe du Lac forms a vampire family; now, in the year 2022, Louis tells his story.
Matt Roush explains…
The luscious second season of the supernatural melodrama concludes with an operatic flourish that reflects the zombie protagonists’ enormous passions. Following the terrible trial and execution at the Théâtre des Vampires, Louis (Jacob Anderson) displays the extent of his ferocious wrath, madness, and violent revenge. “That’s the end of it,” he says to his interviewer, Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogasian). But it is not. The best news is that the story will continue in a third season based on Rice’s sequel, The Vampire Lestat.
Sink Your Teeth into These ‘Interview with the Vampire’ Cast Portraits
Interview With the Vampire completely avoids the sophomore slump.
The sumptuous AMC drama returns with a vengeance on Sunday, May 12, transporting Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia (Delainey Hayles) to Europe on their feverish search for additional vampires in Season 2. The hunt takes them to Paris, where they meet Armand (Assad Zaman) and his fabulously wicked coven at the Théâtres des Vampires (including scene-stealer Ben Daniels as the vampire Santiago, dripping sex).
The interview continues in Dubai with journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian), who is not pleased with Louis and Armand’s manipulation in Season 1 when the 514-year-old vampire pretended to be the human assistant Rashid.
He is more motivated than ever to delve into Louis’ recollections, as well as what he and Armand refuse to share, to uncover the truth behind this horrific tragedy.
Louis is haunted by what the group refers to as “Dream-stat” in the post-World War II Paris era. After attempting to kill his beloved, Louis senses Lestat’s (Sam Reid) presence all about him, pushing the limits of his brain while Claudia urgently seeks connection with others of their kind.

Young Jacob Anderson scored right away, landing a recurring role in his debut on-screen appearance. The show “Donny!” (USA, 2015-) featured Donny Deutsch, who played a fictionalized version of himself, a TV host and personality, as he tried to keep his life together while preserving his career. Anderson played the title character’s son.
Your Burning ‘IWTV’ Questions Answered by Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid & More (VIDEO)
You asked, and Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid responded. Delainey Hayles, Eric Bogosian, and Assad Zaman all took part! In an exclusive conversation with TV Insider (linked above), the stars of AMC’s conversation With the Vampire Season 2 respond to fan questions received via social media.
Many fans wondered what songs the cast will select to illustrate their character’s storylines this season (which premieres Sunday, May 12 at 9/8c). Taylor Swift’s song “Anti-Hero” resonates with Anderson. Reid’s favorite song is Fiona Apple’s “Criminal.” Bogosian and Hayles cannot help but giggle at their responses: “Walk on the Wild Side” by Lou Reed and “Living’ in the Sunlight, Lovin’ in the Moonlight” by Maurice Chavalier. (Return to Zaman’s fan questions video here.)
Another huge question: What surprised the cast the most this season? Their responses above reveal the twists in Part 2 of this adaptation, which was brought to life by showrunner Rolin Jones and his team of writers. Reid ensures that every book update the program makes acknowledges author Anne Rice’s original work while also creating a riveting new take on the source material.
“Favorite bits from Part 2 of the book are there, but they’ve been adapted in a very, very unique way,” the actor from Australia adds. He continues, “It really does work out in the wash.”

The most significant modification to the series occurred in its premise: the titular interview is set in Dubai in 2022 rather than San Francisco in 1973, while the original interview remains an important piece of this vampiric puzzle. Daniel Molloy (Bogosian) is more dedicated to the Dubai interview than ever before in the second season, and Anderson explains above that “how much of the plot happens in Dubai” was one of the biggest surprises when he first read the scripts.
This was a continuation of Jones’ stern warning to Anderson at the end of season one: “I’m going to f**k you up in Dubai,” Anderson remembers Jones saying. Gulp!

‘Interview with the Vampire’ Stars Break Down ‘Me & You’ Scene from Premiere (VIDEO)
Interview With the Vampire has returned (God, that felt good to type). In the Season 2 opener, Louis (Jacob Anderson), Claudia (Delainey Hayles), and the ghost of Lestat (Sam Reid) travel to Europe in quest of more of their kind. The episode concluded with a beautiful, devastating monologue by Louis in which he struck a crucial agreement with his daughter, which acts as the starting point for the entire season’s storyline. In the video above, Anderson, Reid, and Hayles discuss that sequence, what it was like to film, and why it’s so vital to the plot’s progression.
Louis and Claudia had a horrific experience in Romania, both before and after discovering the ancient world vampires. After four years of seeking (note the time leap from Season 1’s end!), they discovered their first vampire, a gigantic, unidentifiable creature known as a revenant with an old “mother” named Daciana. Claudia planned to join Daciana to their family, but she committed herself by setting herself on fire right in front of them while Claudia offered a connection.
Louis, desperate to start again, gave Claudia a firm but loving talk as they drove to Paris in the back of a decrepit truck. Louis told Claudia both “hard words” and “soft words.” Their “life is she*t” and will most certainly be for a while, he stated, but if Claudia walks the world, Louis will “never taste the fire.” He promises her that. He assured her that “you and me, me and you” were all that mattered, as if repeating it would make his Lestat hallucination go away.
In this episode, the Lestat hallucination of Louis’ imagination manifested itself as the night he was slain in the Season 1 finale, complete with a bleeding slice in his throat. It is worth noting that while Louis imagines “Dream-stat,” as the cast refers to him, frightening him, the look he gives Claudia in the truck is sad. It is as if this really is the ghost of Lestat and he’s missing his vampire daughter from the other side.
Anderson and Reid devote the first several minutes of the film above to praising Hayles’ “astonishing” performance in the sequence, in which only Louis speaks, but Hayles and Reid’s quiet performances convey volumes.
“When we shot this scene — I don’t know if I told [Hayles] this — as it goes on, Louis’ meant to get very emotional,” said Anderson to Hayles. “And every time I looked at your face while you were in this hard-beaten Claudia stage, it got me floods of tears.”
