In the action-packed French-language thriller Under Paris, which is available on Netflix, Paris is terrorized by a shark during a significant athletic event. Additionally, it may seem somewhat familiar to those competing because it takes place in the summer of 2024, when Paris is hosting the Olympics!

Some fans have dubbed the film the French Jaws. Bérénice Bejo plays Sophia, an intelligent scientist who finds out that a large shark has made its way from African seas to France through a young environmental activist named Mika (played by Léa Levitant). In order to prevent a carnage, the two must team up with Adil, the commander of the Seine River police (played by Nassim Lyes), as the beast bursts into the river Seine and begins to terrorize the people of Paris.

The World Triathlon Championships are being held on the Seine in Paris for the first time in the not-too-distant future in the summer of 2024. Mika, a teenage environmental activist, tells Sophia, a bright scientist, that a big shark is swimming deep in the river. They are forced to work along with Adil, the commander of the Seine River police, in order to prevent a carnage in the middle of the city.

The first teaser shows French officials trying to figure out how to apprehend the clumsy shark that is causing havoc in the Seine River. Starring in the movie are José Antonio Pedrosa Moreno, Léa Léviant, Nassim Lyes, Bérénice Bejo, and Iñaki Lartigue.  Previously, filmmaker Gens collaborated with the streamer on the well-liked Lupin series, which starred Omar Sy. Among his other credits include the 2013 film Mayhem! In addition, he has directed episodes of Crossing Lines and Gangs of London.

Together with Maud Heywang, Yannick Dahan, and Yaël Langmann, Gens co-wrote the script. Sebastien Auscher is the film’s producer; Nicolas Massart handled photography, Riwanon Le Beller handled editing, and Stéphanie Doncker handled casting. Hubert Pouille for production design, Nicolas Prono for art direction, and Ilse Willocx for set decoration are among the other credits.

Following the success of his last action film Mayhem!, French director Xavier Gens (Cold Skin, Frontiers) will make a comeback with Under Paris, a shark attack film, on Netflix.

In Under Paris, Léa Léviant portrays activist Mika. In addition to her roles in Belle Fille, Savage Days, and I Am Not An Easy Man, she is the star of the French television series Mortel.

Adil is Nassim Lyes.
