Supacell-Seaon 1: British superhero drama release date, cast, storyline, trailer release, and everything you need to know.

June 2024 will see the premiere of Supacell, a significant new British production on Netflix. The streamer and Rapman are working together to create Supacell, a new series that centers on a gang of Black individuals with superpowers. Here is all we currently know about Supacell on Netflix.

Known by his stage moniker Rapman, Andrew Onwubolu will be directing and writing the new six-part series. Among his credits are Blue Story, American Son, and the trilogy of short films based on Shiro’s Story. Rapman will collaborate on productions with New Wave artists Mouktar Mohammed and Henrietta Lee, an associate producer.

The show is a part of Netflix’s major campaign for its UK division. Vice president of Netflix’s U.K. series, Anne Mensah, offered her thoughts on this:

This year, Netflix will be getting a ton of fantastic television shows, like Bridgerton, 3 Body Problem, and many more. There is currently another show to be excited about, Supacell, and we have all the information you want.

Creator Rapman of Blue Story’s six-part science fiction series centers on a bunch of average South Londoners who discover they are everything but when they unexpectedly acquire superpowers.

Here’s everything you need to know about Netflix’s Supacell, including the cast, release date, and more, since we can’t wait to see it.

Starring Tosin Cole and Eddie Marsan, Supacell is a humorous six-part British sci-fi drama that will stream on Netflix. This show, which is about a bunch of regular individuals who discover they are anything but, is the brainchild of Rapman, the creator of Blue Story. The one similarity among the five ordinary individuals who unexpectedly acquire superpowers in Supacell is that they are all Black south Londoners.

Rapman said to us during a Netflix showcase event in April 2023: “I love Marvel and I’m a huge superhero fan, but I’ve never seen a superhero where I felt like they were saying, ‘I got powers, but I’m not going to save the world just yet.'” All I’m trying to do is make ends meet or mend a relationship. “I have to take care of myself before I can help someone,” they say. Since I’ve never seen a program where the perspective represented that, I wanted to create something in the genre that was rooted in everyday life. I simply want the world to see it because making it was so emotional.”

When will Supacell be available?

Supacell is scheduled to launch on Netflix in June, however the precise date is yet unknown. I’m eager!

What is Supacell’s storyline?

Apart from the fact that Supacell will be a science fiction superhero series, not much is known about the narrative. This is the logline for Supacell on Netflix:

A gang of unremarkable South Londoners, who have no obvious connection other than the fact that they are all Black, all of a sudden acquire superpowers. One man must unite them as they cope with the effects on their day-to-day lives in order to safeguard the person he loves, all the while dodging the strong and cunning agents who have become aware of their unique powers.

The Supacell concept

Supacell tracks five regular people who acquire remarkable abilities. The one thing that unites them despite their extreme differences is that they are both Black residents of south London. And in order to save the lady he loves, it will be up to one guy, Michael Lasaki (Tosin Cole), to unite them.

How does Supacell work?

Supacell, which is set in South London, centers on a typical group of individuals who obtain superpowers out of the blue. Before long, they realize that they are the target of a formidable force because of their unexpected skills.

Then, while they cope with how their abilities affect their day-to-day existence, one guy has to unite them in order to save the love of his life. We’ve already been addicted!

Who makes up Supacell’s cast?

Both well-known stars and fresh names have joined the Supacell cast, including:

Tosin Cole from 61st Street, Till Eye and Nadine Mills from Sliced and The Weekend played Michael and Sabrina, respectively.

As Andre Calvin Demba (The Rig, Life, Micky and the Bear), Eric Kofi Abrefa (Blue Story, BMF) plays Rodney.

Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan and Deadpool 2) as Ray Josh Tedeku (Moonhaven, A Town Called Malice) as Tazer Adelayo Adedayo (The Responder, Timewasters) as Dionne.

Michael Lasaki, the hero and main character of Supacell, is portrayed by Tosin Cole. He is the one who gathers the superpowered South Londoners for a mission.

Tosin Cole began his acting career in Hollyoaks and EastEnders: E20. Since then, he has portrayed Ryan in 61st Street, Star Wars: Episode V11 – The Force Awakens, House Party, and Doctor Who. He’s slated to feature in Girl from the North Country and an upcoming film about Bob Marley.

Eddie Marsan as Ray Not much is currently known about Eddie’s role in Supacell, however he will portray a man named Ray.

Eddie featured as Soly in Ridley Road and as scammer John Darwin in the television series The Thief, His Wife, and the Canoe in 2022. In addition, he starred in the films Their Finest, The Gentleman, Ray Donovan, The Pact, The Power, and Snow White and the Huntsman. In the forthcoming film Back to Black, which is based on Amy Winehouse’s life, he will also portray her father, Mitch.

Executive producer Rapman describes Eddie as “really funny, really sweet, and just such a nice human being.” He would just loiter around the set, giving everyone so much self-assurance. He exudes such intensity that I felt like I was in the presence of Scorsese.

With whom is Supacell co-starring?

Josh Tedeku, Calvin Demba, Eric Kofi Abrefa, Nadine Mills, Adelayo Adedayo, and Rayxia Ojo are also featured in Supacell. Please check back for further updates on their characters when we have them soon.
