Barcelona’s 3-3 tie with bottom-place Granada resulted in jeers at home. The defeat moved the Catalan team 10 points behind leader Real Madrid, who on Saturday crushed second-place Girona 4-0. Barcelona sits three points clear of fourth-place Atletico Madrid, which suffered a 1-0 loss at Sevilla earlier on Sunday, and trails Girona by five points.
Coach Xavi Hernández of Barcelona, who recently said he would not be returning after the season, will probably feel even greater pressure as a result of the draw. “The league was already hard for us, and it’s two points harder today,” Xavi remarked. “We won’t give up even if there is a large distance. We must cease making errors. Barcelona was the clear favourite to triumph over Granada, a squad that had only triumphed once in its previous 13 games across all competitions.
Lamal took the lead in the 14th minute, but Granada responded via goals from Facundo Pellistri in the 60th and Ricard Sánchez in the 43rd. In the 63rd and 66th minutes, respectively, Robert Lewandowski and Ignasi Miquel gave the visitors the lead again, and in the 80th, Yamal tied the score with a low strike into the corner. Granada has lost three of its past two league games and drawn the other two, meaning that it has not won in five straight games. It remained seven points from safety in 19th position. Getafe’s late victory
Jaime Mata scored twice for Getafe in their 3-2 home victory over Celta Vigo, including the game-winning goal in the 89th minute. RAFA Benítez’s Celta, who overcame a two-goal deficit in the 71st minute, finished in 17th position, three points above the relegation zone, while Getafe maintained their position in 10th place.
The winner of muriqi
With a goal in stoppage time, Vedat Muriqi helped Mallorca upset Rayo Vallecano 2-1 and climb into 16th position, six points clear of relegation. Mallorca has not won any of their previous five league games. Rayo lost their third consecutive league game and fell to 14th position, having already lost seven games in all competitions.

Fans may not have fully anticipated six goals and a draw from Sunday night’s La Liga match at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company’s between Barcelona and Granada. Finally, with Robert Lewandowski also on target for the aggrieved hosts, Barca had to settle with only stealing a point from the visitors late on when Lamine Yamal scored his second goal of the game.
Barcelona’s faint hopes of winning La Liga again took a serious hit as they were beaten to a 3-3 home draw by Granada. Before Ricard Sanchez cancelled off Lamine Yamal’s first goal just before halftime, Barcelona had the advantage in the first half. Facundo Pellistri gave Granada the lead in a frantic six-minute span, but Robert Lewandowski quickly tied the score.
However, it didn’t take long for Granada to regain control of the match as Marc-Andre Ter Stegen failed to stop former Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel’s strong header. Barca earned a point late on thanks to a second goal from Yamal, but Xavi’s team is currently 10 points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid, so not much comfort there. When 16-year-old Yamal discovered a gap at the back post and met Joao Cancelo’s cross to tap into an open goal, Barca broke the tie.

Following a beautiful manoeuvre on the left side featuring Pedri and Ilkay Gundogan, the German crossed the ball for Lewandowski, whose first-time attempt was deflected off the line by Martin Hongla. A few moments later, Granada broke out at the opposite end of the field as Sanchez scored his first goal into the roof of the net at Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s front post after Facundo Pellistri had sprinted past Cancelo and pulled a cross back at the byline.
The first half began with opportunities for both teams. Lewandowski blocked a shot from a close angle, then Pellistri forced Ter Stegen to make a save from a similar position. However, Pellestri did manage to reach the goal a few moments later, giving Granada a stunning lead and igniting an incredible six minutes of football. After Myrto Uzuni missed a cross at the back post, Pellistri in the six-yard box received a fizzed pass from Uzuni, who crashed the ball into an empty net from two yards out. Gundogan set up Lewandowski for a low drive into the net from the outside of the box, and Barca were quick to respond and fight their way back into the match. But Miquel’s strong header towards goal, which Ter Stegen could only deflect into the post before it crossed the line, gave Granada an early lead again. Yamal’s low attempt from 25 yards out into the bottom corner gave Barcelona hope for a comeback, but it would only earn them a point.
Speaking point: Barra is not in the running for the title.
If it wasn’t difficult enough to catch this strong Real Madrid team already, they have made things much more difficult for themselves by drawing with 19th-place Granada, dropping them to 10 points behind.
They have withdrawn from the race in their attempt to retain their crown for the time being. That may alter, but it would require extraordinary performance from Barcelona, a disastrous effort on the part of Madrid, and a victory by Barcelona at the Bernabeu in April.
