Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release date, cast, trailer release, and everything you need to know

A 2024 action-adventure shooter game called Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was created by Rocksteady Studios and released by Warner Bros. Games. It is a spin-off of the Batman: Arkham series and a sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight, based on the DC Comics squad Suicide Squad (2015).

The game’s plot centres on four supervillains recruited by Amanda Waller: Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and King Shark. The tale takes place five years after the events of Arkham Knight. They are dispatched to Metropolis in order to eliminate the brainwashed Justice League members who turned violent and stop the extraterrestrial invader Brainiac.

The third-person viewpoint of the game and its open world layout let players explore Metropolis at will, either alone or with other people. The release date was set for August 2020; however, it was postponed several times before finally happening in 2022. On January 29, 2024, buyers of the deluxe edition might have early access to it.

Plot Of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Director of A.R.G.U.S. Amanda Waller frees the captives from Arkham Asylum, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, and King Shark, and forces them to join her Task Force X, the “Suicide Squad.” Waller leads the group into Metropolis, where Brainiac is attacking, after injecting little explosives into their skulls.

A brainwashed Green Lantern confronts the team during their raid of the Hall of Justice, explaining that Brainiac’s strike is just the start of his intentions to terraform Earth. Boomerang drags The Flash out of hiding, whereupon he is severely injured and taken prisoner by a deranged Batman. The Flash steps in to save the team.

Wonder Woman, the lone remaining Justice League member who was not brainwashed, is encountered by the team as they retreat to the Hall of Justice. Waller gives the team the order to eliminate the Justice League and put a stop to their menace, and she declines to cooperate with them.

Waller orders the team to search Metropolis for equipment and weaponry that they may use to subdue the Justice League while also enlisting other criminals into their cause. They make an effort to capture Lex Luthor in order to get his information, but the now-brainwashed Flash kills him. Wonder Woman’s help allows the group to nearly escape.

The Flash responds that killing her friends is the only way to stop Brainiac as she uses her lasso on him. Using the anti-Speed Force technology that they are given; the team kills the Flash. When Green Lantern shows up, the group is forced to escape via one of Brainiac’s portals.

After being transferred, the team finds themselves on Earth-2, an Earth duplicate that Brainiac has already destroyed. When they see a different Luthor, he confesses that he has been working with the version of himself from Earth-1 to be ready for Brainiac’s invasion.

After returning the team to their realm, Luthor-2 threatens to murder them all, much like Waller’s Earth-2 counterpart did to her own team. When the team breaches Wayne Enterprises’ covert money vault, Wonder Woman is creating a shield made of kryptonite. Following her departure, Luthor-2 delivers the team the Yellow Lantern batteries that Batman had been holding onto in case the Green Lantern appeared. He discloses that Waller has no intention of releasing the team; instead, he plans to use Brainiac’s mind control technology against them or let them die.

When the team confronts and kills Green Lantern, a barrier defending Brainiac’s spacecraft is momentarily disabled. Waller, prepared to sacrifice the team, tries to launch a nuclear attack on Brainiac, but her preparations are thwarted by a hypnotised Superman. While the team tries to get Waller into the Hall of Justice, Wonder Woman and Superman start fighting. Wonder Woman uses a shard of kryptonite to stab Superman, but he recovers and murders her before running away to Brainiac’s spacecraft. According to Luthor-2’s theory, Brainiac altered Superman’s DNA to make it more resistant to kryptonite. He advises taking Batman into custody so he can come up with a defence.

After capturing Batman in his hiding place, the team brings him to Luthor-2, where he creates Gold Kryptonite to oppose Superman. Harley murders Batman because she has no need for him anymore. Using the squad’s Gold Kryptonite weaponry, Superman is drawn out and ultimately slain. But Brainiac kidnaps them and plans to turn the squad into his henchmen. After saving them, Luthor-2 divulges that he has discovered thirteen distinct Brainiacs operating in various universes, conspiring to conquer the multiverse as a whole.

In order to meet the original Brainiac face-to-face, Waller and Luthor-2 plan to transfer the team to his location on Earth-2. There, he reveals his true name, Vril Dox, and begins to imitate the Flash’s look and skills. Luthor-2 is able to get the data from Vril Dox’s brain after the team defeats and captures him during a protracted struggle. He is killed during the extraction, and his spacecraft responds by partially exploding, but this does not stop the invasion; twelve Brainiacs remain, and the team is getting ready to track them down throughout the multiverse.

Review

According to Kotaku and VG247, press previews were “overwhelmingly negative” before to launch.  Publications also reported that during this period, Rocksteady did not send review codes to a large number of sites.

Victoria Phillips Kennedy of Eurogamer described the scenario as “somewhat uncommon” in an interview with BBC’s Newsbeat, speculating that it was a reaction to the “lukewarm” previews.  Destruction’s Chris Carter described it as “not just frightening, but bizarre,” blaming it on technical problems that arose both during and after the previews and the official release. Chris Tapsell of Eurogamer pointed out that no one was entitled to a review code and that similar situations for other games had previously happened, even though they acknowledged being one of the impacted outlets.
