Goff: ‘I’ve loved every second of my time here & would love more’

In Detroit, Jared Goff has become something of a cult figure during the Lions’ postseason run. Jar-red Goff, Jar-ed Goff, became viral after guiding Detroit to their first NFC North triumph in thirty years and then two home playoff victories. The chant spread throughout Michigan, including to Red Wings games and even to the Detroit Opera House.

One day after Detroit’s loss in the NFC Championship Game, Goff said on Monday, “The last three weeks, or however long, it’s really been longer than that, but since the playoffs started and we were able to win that (Rams) game at home and to see the fan’s response, not only for me, but for the whole team, is special.

Obviously, it’s something I will always remember. I am aware that the season didn’t conclude the way we had hoped. It was a letdown last night. However, those two postseason home games were a lot of fun and the atmosphere was as unique and exciting as you could imagine.

Goff had a fantastic game in the 49ers’ defeat, but he is in no way to blame for the Lions’ lack of participation in their first-ever Super Bowl in two weeks. Detroit would never have come within one victory of the Super Bowl if it weren’t for Goff’s performance throughout the season, especially in the postseason.

The eight-year veteran’s contract is up in one year, but the organisation may approach him and his agent in the summer to get a much-needed raise and extension. When asked if he would rather stay in Detroit in the long run, Goff said that he had no preference. It’s not up to me what happens to me in the future,” he stated. “I adore this location. I adore this place, Dan Campbell, all of the coaches, and all of my teammates. We’ll see what transpires over time.

It’s difficult to gain the respect and approval of his coaches, players, and the hardworking, blue-collar people of Detroit. It must be acquired with talent, perseverance, and guts. Throughout the entire season, Goff demonstrated that.

Goff has proven himself as the starting quarterback for the foreseeable future by performing at a Pro Bowl calibre over the past two seasons.

Goff declared, “I’ve cherished every second of my stay here and would want more.” “I love Dan, I love my teammates, and I love all of the players here. Yes, receiving an extension would be fantastic, but that’s not something I control.

“JA-RED GOFF!” shouts have been going throughout Detroit for the past several weeks.

Jared Goff wants to stay in Detroit for the long run, but he says it’s not up to him. At Red Wings games, restaurants, and airports, it has happened on its own.

Goff has returned the affection that Lions supporters have lavished upon him. Goff expressed his desire for the partnership to continue into 2024. According to Kyle Meinke of mlive.com, Goff stated on Monday, “I’ve loved every second of my time here and would want more.” “I cherish Dan Campbell.” I’m in love with my teammates and the coaches. Yes, it would be fantastic. It’s not up to me, though.

Goff will earn $21.7 million in base pay and $31.7 million in 2024, counting toward the cap, as he enters a contract year. The Lions would pay a lot more for a new contract since 12 quarterbacks would be making at least $40 million annually.

It’s not my decision,” Goff remarked. I adore this location, and as time passes, we’ll see what transpires. But yes, I adore this location, Dan, my teammates, and all of the coaches. It’s not under my control. My delegates and, of course, the folks upstairs [in the front office] have the last say. Goff doesn’t care whether or when a new deal is signed.

However, he earns it after playing in his third Pro Bowl and finishing with a career-high 4,575 yards and 30 touchdowns on 67.3 percent of his throws, along with 12 interceptions. In addition to setting a franchise milestone with 12 wins in the regular season, the Lions earned their first division championship since 1993 and made it to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.

Jared Goff, the quarterback for the Detroit Lions, stated to reporters on Monday that he would be thrilled to sign a long-term deal with the organisation.

As reported by Kyle Meinke of MLive.com, Goff stated, “I’ve loved every second of my time here, and would want more.” “I adore all of my teammates, the coaches, and [head coach] Dan Campbell. Yes, it would be fantastic. It’s not up to me, though.”

Goff’s 2024 salary is little over $21.6 million, and in 2025 he will be eligible to sign a free agent contract (via Spotrac). After being acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in January 2021 in exchange for Matthew Stafford, Goff didn’t have great expectations, but he has grown into a vital member of Detroit’s attack.

In 2023, he completed 67.3 percent of quarterback passes for 4,575 yards and 30 touchdowns against 12 interceptions, helping the Lions to a 12-5 record. The No. 5 scoring offence in the NFL belonged to Campbell’s side because of Goff and Detroit’s strong run game. The 29-year-old expressed his wish to stay with the company, but he also said that he had no influence over whether or not a long-term contract is extended to him.

According to Meinke, Goff responded, “It’s not up to me.” I adore this location, and as time passes, we’ll see what transpires. But yes, I adore this location, Dan, my teammates, and all of the coaches. The playoffs saw the former No. 1 overall selection step up his game, which may give the front staff greater confidence to keep him in Detroit. Goff averaged 279.0 yards per game in three postseason starts, scoring four touchdowns without being intercepted.

The San Francisco 49ers overturned the Lions’ 17-point halftime lead in the NFC Championship game, preventing the team from playing in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1992.
