Griselda Release Date, Storyline, Cast Members, Trailer, and Everything
A well-known actor will play the protagonist in a brand-new Netflix series that dramatizes the life of infamous cocaine trafficker Griselda Blanco. After becoming well-known for her role in the popular US comedy Modern Family, Sofía Vergara is stepping up her dramatic roles for this dark miniseries from the creators of Narcos. Griselda, according to Netflix, is a “fictionalised” account of events, with the Godmother controlling her illicit commerce with a “lethal combination of surprising cruelty and allure.
Release Date of Griselda
Griselda is scheduled to premiere on January 25, 2024, making it one of Netflix’s first major series of the year, along with 3 Body Problem, which is also scheduled to stream in January.

The Plot of Griselda
Vergara makes waves while taking on executive producing responsibilities for a show executive produced by Eric Newman of Narcos: Mexico, which is marketed as a “relative” to Narcos. He and Doug Miro, the co-creator of Narcos, are also on board for this limited series. The Modern Family actor also underwent a significant metamorphosis for this part, putting on hours of prosthetics and makeup every day.
Griselda fled her violent husband in the United States with her first three boys, and in the late 1970s and early 1980s, she operated a cocaine trafficking operation out of Miami. She quickly discovered that she was capable of managing the business alone, but in the male-dominated criminal underworld, she naturally encountered a lot of resistance. Stated differently, the struggle for legitimacy did not distinguish between legitimate and illicit occupations. But when she got beyond those barriers, it was racing day.
She also enjoyed being referred to as the “Cocaine Godmother” and gave her fourth son the names Michael and Corleone for his first and middle names. This was obviously not a subtle manoeuvre, but in the series, it took tenacious investigators years to piece together her guilt, and the police department’s reputation as a “boy’s club” contributed to this glacial pace as well. To put it another way, very few people understood how a lady in her prime could manage a $80 million-a-month cocaine company. To put it mildly, she was an excellent recruiter.
As a murderer, Griselda also gave the orders to execute several savage killings of her adversaries and anybody who dared to oppose her. She is said to have been accountable for between 50 and 250 killings. When it came to her brutality and nasty methods, her foes did not appreciate how seductive and convincing she was. Even though she used at least 20 identities, she undoubtedly also had certain deadly weaknesses that, together with her rising fame, ultimately caused her empire to collapse. Nobody could ever say she wasn’t productive. According to Netflix’s synopsis of this programme.

The Griselda plot summary
The true life of astute and driven Colombian businesswoman Griselda Blanco, who founded one of the most successful cartels in history, is chronicled in Griselda. As a loving mother, Blanco skilfully balanced her obligations to her family and her career, earning her the nickname “Black Widow” for her deadly combination of charm and unsuspected cruelty.
Stories of this kind typically feature intense action scenes, desperate times of suspense, and treachery motivated by the desire to make a big drug profit. Though the premise of Griselda, a biographical miniseries, already mentions her motherly love, it is expected that the non-business side of the lady behind the cartel will also be explored. If any more storey details are revealed, be sure to keep an eye on Collider.
Who Is Griselda’s Behind?
The successful team behind Narcos, which included Eric Newman (Children of Men), Doug Miro (The Great Wall), Ingrid Escajeda (Silo), and Carlo Bernard (The Uninvited), has returned to Netflix to work on another gripping drug-based drama. Miro and Escajeda will share the role of showrunner, while Eric Newman and Carlo Bernard are co-creators. Andrés Baiz, who directed 12 episodes of Narcos, is using his artistic vision to helm the Griselda series. Eric Newman, Doug Miro, Ingrid Escajeda, Luis Balaguer (Hot Pursuit), and Sofía Vergara herself serve as executive producers on the show.
The miniseries was shot by seasoned cinematographer Armando Salas, while the show is composed by the gifted Carlos Rafael Rivera (The Queen’s Gambit) (Ozark).
Cast of Griselda
Notably, the gifted Sofía Vergara plays the title drug queenpin. After playing Dolores the Couch in a brief guest appearance in the Will Ferrell-led comedy Strays, Vergara gained her largest fan base with her depiction of Gloria in Modern Family. She is mainly known for her comedic work. Hence, Griselda represents a significant shift in tone for Vergara, who often takes on more whimsical parts due to her snappy comic timing and character development. Vergara was an odd but intriguing choice for the part, given the real-life Griselda Blanco was a renowned criminal whose work at the top of the cartel caused the murders of around 200 people.
Alberto Guerra (Ungovernable) as Dario, Vanessa Ferlito (Death Proof) as Maria Gutierrez, Martín Rodríguez (El Cuarto de Leo) as Rivi Ayala, Alberto Ammann (Narcos) as Alberto Bravo, Christian Tappan (The Great Heist) as Arturo Mesa, Gabriel Sloyer (Inventing Anna) as Diaz, José Zúñiga (Sound of Freedom) as Amilcar, and Juliana Aiden Martinez (The Blacklist) as June are among the actors who appear with Vergara in Griselda’s ensemble. Paulina Dávila (Savage Rhythm) as Carmen and Diego Trujillo (Proof of Life) as German Panes so make cameo appearances.
