Masters of the Universe: Revolution Release Date, Cast and Crew

The American animated superhero fantasy television series Masters of the Universe: Revelation is created by Powerhouse Animation Studios and Kevin Smith. The plot of Revelation, a sequel to Filiation’s 1983–1985 series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, examines unfinished business from the original 1980s series while disregarding the events of The New Adventures of He-Man (1990).

Release date of Masters of the Universe: Revolution

On January 25, 2024, Masters of the Universe: Revolution, an animated Netflix original series, is scheduled to premiere. The Kevin Smith-created programme is a follow-up to the animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, which aired in 2021.

The show debuted on July 23, 2021 on Netflix in five episodes, then on November 23, 2021, five more episodes were added.

Storyline of Master of Universe: Revolution

Although a lot of information about Masters of the Universe: Revolution has been kept secret for a while, this teaser provides some insight into the main storey points of the next series. The main plot will centre on the struggle between magic and technology as the mechanical Skeletor uses Motherboard’s power. Both Teela and He-Man have crucial decisions to make: she needs to utilise her abilities to restore a magical realm and repel a huge attack from key returning She-Ra villain Hordak, and he needs to decide between being a King or a Champion.

Also revealed are a few of the voice cast members for the next programme. Harley Quinn Smith, the daughter of creator Kevin Smith, plays Illena in this, Meg Foster plays Motherboard, Keith David plays Hordak, and William Shatner plays an unidentified part. Mark Hamill, who is returning from Masters of the Universe: Revelation, is also expected to play Skeletor. Melissa Benoist from Supergirl has taken over for Gellar in the Teela role.

About Master of Universe: Revolution

Even though the season’s plot was neatly tied up in Revelation Part 2, Skeletor’s presence indicates that more evil is undoubtedly lurking. Moreover, he has taken on (rather than provided) a perilous new shape. Masters of the Universe: Revolution is anticipated to have a completely new plot centred on He-Man and Skeletor rather than necessarily being a continuation of the previous series. But at the last instalment’s climax, where Skeletor gains Motherboard’s abilities, there was a clear clue about the forthcoming one. Therefore, even if it appears like Eternia is experiencing peace, this won’t last.

The return of the far more menacing Hordak, the demon, causes the mayhem to intensify. In an incredible, never-before-seen fight, Teela, the new sorceress, teams up with He-Man and the other Masters to rescue the Earth. Thus, the last battle in Revolution will be between the magic of Eternia and Motherboard’s evil technology.

Masterminds of the Universe: Revolution: Who is Producing It?

Kevin Smith developed both Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Masters of the Universe: Revolution, the follow-up series to that one from 2021. The comic book writer, actor, and director Smith is most renowned for his creation of the comic duo Jay and Silent Bob, which he co-created with Jason Mewes. Notable works include the 1999 fantasy picture Dogma, starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, as well as other comedies such as Mallrats, Jersey Girl, and Tusk. He also wrote and directed the buddy comedy series Clerks. Additionally, he serves as Goodwill Hunting’s co-executive producer.

As an actor, Smith starred in a number of well-known motion pictures and television series, including The Mindy Project, The Big Bang Theory, Live Free or Die Hard, Catch and Release, and Star Wars movies. In addition, he directed a few episodes of Supergirl, The Goldbergs, and The Flash.

In 2019, Smith revealed Masters of the Universe: Revelation. He is the executive producer and showrunner, and the writers of the series are Marc Bernardin, Eric Carrasco, Tim Sheridan, and Diya Mishra. Netflix gave the go-ahead for Masters of the Universe: Revolution, a follow-up series that is probably going to use the same writing staff, in June 2022.

Revolution is being produced by Powerhouse Animation Studios and Mattel Television. Ted Biaselli, Fred Soulie, Rob David, Christopher Keenan, and Smith from Mattel are executive producing. Smith is also back. The soundtrack for Revelation was created by BAFTA and Emmy-winning musician and composer Bear McCreary, who is most known for his roles in The Walking Dead, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Battlestar Galactica, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Cast of Master of Universe: Revelation

Mark Hamill plays Skeletor, Liam Cunningham plays Duncan/Man-At-Arms, and Chris Wood voices Prince Adam/He-Man in the key roles. Stephen Root as Cringer / Battle Cat, Tony Todd as Scare-Glow, Justin Long as Roboto, Griffin Newman as Orko, Diedrich Bader as King Randor, Tiffany Smith as Andra (the new Man-At-Arms), and Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn “Lyn” Majestra. Harley Quinn Smith, daughter of Kevin Smith, is one of the new characters that will be voicing Illena.

It was revealed in March 2023 that Melissa Benoist will take Sarah Michelle Gellar’s role as Teela’s voice actor in the future series. Furthermore, Revolution’s Motherboard will be voiced by Meg Foster, who portrayed Evil-Lyn in the 1987 live-action picture Masters of the Universe. Keith David was cast in July 2023 to voice Hordak, and William Shatner was cast in July 2022 for an unspecified part.

Development

A CGI series geared at children and an adult-oriented anime series advertised as a direct successor to the 1983 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe television series were the two new Masters of the Universe projects that Netflix announced will be in development in December 2019.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation was first revealed by Kevin Smith at the 2019 annual Power-Con convention. He served as the showrunner and executive producer of the series, writing alongside Eric Carrasco, Tim Sheridan, Diya Mishra, and Marc Bernardin, the co-host of Fatman Beyond, despite publicly expressing his distaste for it.
