CBS Boss Hints at Potential ‘Blue Bloods’ Spinoff After Season 14
Was the #SaveBlueBloods initiative successful? Brian Robbins, co-CEO of Paramount Global, allegedly suggested about a Blue Bloods spinoff during a Tuesday, June 4 shareholder meeting. As of right now, CBS will broadcast the final two episodes of Blue Bloods Season 14 Part 2 later this year.
TVLine reports that Robbins stated, “in TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods,” at a June 4 Paramount shareholders meeting. “CBS’ hit Fire Country shows huge promise,” Robbins reportedly remarked, probably referring to the future Sheriff Country spinoff scheduled for the 2025–2026 broadcast season. Robbins’ statements are true, according to TV Insider.
The audience was already aware of Dexter and Billions’ growing franchises, but the season’s biggest story has been the approaching demise of Blue Bloods. Stars of the cop procedural, including Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg, have expressed their strong desire for the show to go for several more months. Selleck most recently expressed his optimism that CBS would reconsider its decision to discontinue the series when he spoke with CBS News in early May.
“Well, that’s a valid query. About the last season of the show, he remarked, “I will keep believing that CBS will come to their senses. This statement was made on May 7, which was only five days after CBS announced that Blue Bloods will not be renewed despite pleas from the cast and fans for the program to go on.
Stars of “Blue Bloods” Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg Disclose the Details of Their Family Dinner Scenes
“We adore this cast and their ardor for the program. All television programs must conclude. We think it is critically to update the schedule. In a May 2 press conference, CBS President Amy Reisenbach declared, “We are going to end the show come December.”
Selleck has expressed his desire for the show to continue running the loudest. He said to TV Insider that he was not prepared to say goodbye before the broadcast of Season 14 Part 1.
“An enormous number of people are not prepared to say goodbye to it, CBS will discover. The concert is more popular than ever, and I predict that this year’s excitement will lead to an increase in [numbers]. He continued, “We’re definitely not out of ideas, and I’m not counting the days so I can do something else. I adore what I do. I am older, so the hours are a little harder sometimes, but what the heck? If they will have me, I want to work.
Robbins made no indication in his remarks as to what a possible Blue Bloods spinoff may entail. Someone from the Reagan family would seem to be the greatest choice to star in a franchise extension, as the show is centered around their family. Alternatively, they may take the legal path and develop a brand-new crime procedural set at Erin Reagan’s (Bridget Moynahan) workplace as the District Attorney’s office. Donnie Wahlberg and Marisa Ramirez’s character Danny and Baez have such a strong relationship that they might perhaps be the stars of a spinoff about their investigative work.

Furthermore, TV Insider was previously informed by writer Kevin Wade that Selleck’s Frank Reagan will not be leaving his role as police commissioner in the upcoming season, suggesting that he may still be involved in the drama.

‘Blue Bloods’ Fans Start Campaign to Save Show from Cancellation
The fans of Blue Bloods do not want the show to stop.
To persuade CBS to allow the police procedural to go on, fans have launched a campaign called “Save Blue Bloods” as the first half of the final season is airing.
Season 14 of Blue Bloods is scheduled to conclude. The first half of the season is presently airing on CBS on Fridays at 10/9c, with episodes of the second half scheduled to air this fall.
As it stands, there will be 293 episodes left in the series. To reach the 300-episode milestone, the X (formerly known as Twitter) account @SaveBlueBloods is urging CBS to purchase seven more episodes, if not to cancel the show entirely.
Every week, the account asks followers to tweet about the show to get it trending when new episodes run on Fridays. It also frequently tweets about the show’s ratings to spread the word about how well-liked it is among viewers. Their goal is to “cancel the cancel,” and they anticipate that the buzz generated by social media and an online petition will aid in this endeavor. In addition, fan recordings from set visits in New York are being gathered to create a compilation of videos honoring the program.
The Save Blue Bloods petition on the fan account received 12,248 signatures as of the time of writing. It aims to attain fifteen thousand. Star Donnie Wahlberg has also expressed interest in the account’s posts, sharing fan art on his X and Instagram profiles with the hashtag #SaveBlueBloods. Even though the show is airing reruns, devoted fans have managed to get it trending on X for the past two weeks. Wahlberg has tweeted several times to express his appreciation for the support.
On Friday, March 15, he tweeted, “You all never cease to amaze.”
The cast of Blue Bloods is also not prepared for the show to conclude. Prior to the Season 14 debut, Tom Selleck stated to TV Insider that he would stay on the program as long as there were stories left to talk about Frank Reagan.
“An awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” he predicted CBS will discover. “The concert is more popular than ever, and given the interest this year, I believe [numbers] will rise. We have plenty more ideas still.
Selleck went on, “I’m not counting the days so I can do something else.” “I adore what I do.” I’m older, so the hours are a little harder sometimes, but what the heck? If they will have me, I want to work.
Fans of Blue Bloods are undoubtedly in favor of this idea.

‘Dexter,’ ‘Billions of Spinoffs in the Works as Paramount Takes Over Showtime Using ‘Yellowstone’ Model
Showtime is apparently planning spinoffs and extensions of its successful series Billions and Dexter, following in the footsteps of Paramount. The goal is to develop the existing worlds through intricate past and present storyline, emulating the structure of Paramount’s Yellowstone franchise.
There are presently plans to create spinoffs for both flagship shows, with Dexter: Origins (a working title) receiving a straight-to-series order. Clyde Phillips will serve as the show’s executive producer. It is based on Michael C. Hall’s Emmy-nominated television series Dexter.
Additionally, the network is working on a new episode of Dexter called New Blood, which centers on Harrison, Dexter’s son, and his continuing rise to prominence. Showtime is also looking into other spinoffs that center on characters from the Dexter universe, such as the John Lithgow-portrayed Trinity Killer.
In Dexter: Origins, the early years of Dexter Morgan’s transformation into the vengeful serial killer he would eventually become would be dramatized. The program, which is set in Miami and follows the real-life serial killers of the era, will pick up right after Dexter leaves college and joins Miami Metro in his 20s, where he meets younger iterations of beloved characters. Meanwhile, Dexter: New Blood is a new incarnation of the 2021-2022 drama now focusing on Harrison, who flees to New York City where he wrestles with his own violent nature.
“I’m incredibly enthusiastic to delve deeper into and broaden the Dexter universe. It is an honor to consider delving even more into these nuanced and enduring personalities and the tales, ideas, and opportunities they evoke. Regarding the upcoming episodes, Phillips remarked, “I’m thrilled that Chris and my friends at Showtime want me to help them grow this truly unique and amazingly successful franchise.”
Regarding Billions, Brian Koppelman and David Levien oversee the creation of four distinct spinoffs: Billions: Miami, which takes place in the bitcoin industry; Billions: London, which concentrates on the UK banking industry; and Millions and Trillions.
According to Koppelman and Levien, “We remain fascinated by people whose ambition is boundless and who think the laws of civilization and nature don’t apply to them.” “Super-rich people have started to take over in Miami, which is a thriving and vibrant city. We cannot wait to reveal to everyone what is happening down there.
The pay-cable network and premium tier of the subscription will be rebranded as Paramount+ with Showtime as part of the previously announced merger of Paramount+ and Showtime into a single organization. There will be programs from both platforms on the new combine. Showtime shelved a few of its shows after the merger was announced, including American Gigolo, Let the Right One In, and the finished but unaired Three Women.
In the end, Showtime eliminated over a dozen programs from the catalog; this action was comparable to that of rival Warner Bros. Discovery, which eliminated a few HBO Max titles to deduct tax expenses. Even with the shift toward franchising, Showtime was unable to acquire shows like Homeland because the Disney-owned studio produced the Claire Danes-led series.
