Fans may catch Dan Trachtenberg’s stand-alone film Badlands, which enlarges the Predator universe, starring Elle Fanning.
Variety reports that Trachtenberg, who co-wrote the screenplay with Patrick Aison, has signed on to direct the film for 20th Century Studios.
Following the triumph of Trachtenberg’s Prey—the Predator prequel that broke records and was well-received by critics—Badlands was released on Hulu. The 2022 film Prey received five Primetime Emmy nominations and one win for sound editing. Prey 2 is now in early development, and Amber Midthunder, who starred in the original film, may return.
The movie Badlands was announced in February, and it is anticipated that production will start later this year. Plot specifics are still unknown.
In the meantime, Fanning, who played Russian Empress Catherine the Great in The Great for three seasons and received her first Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series, just concluded her tenure as executive producer and star of the show.

Throughout her twenty-year career, Fanning has acted in a variety of roles, including the Disney princess Aurora in the Maleficent films, the drama straight out of the headlines in The Girl from Plainville and the family comedy We Bought a Zoo, and films directed by auteurs such as Mike Mills’ 20th Century Women, Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon, Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere, and The Beguiled.
‘Prey’ movie review: A brilliant Amber Midthunder in an impressive ‘Predator’ film
With great casting, character writing, and cinematography, ‘Prey’ becomes a welcome addition to the popular franchise
The most recent Predator movie, Prey, is a major attempt to revitalize the franchise and set the direction of the series. The popularity of the Arnold Schwarzenegger franchise has decreased since its debut in 1987, since most of its films and spin-offs have failed to leave a lasting effect on both the public and the box office. But the most recent episode attempts to make up for this, and it is a huge success—Prey is currently Hulu’s largest premiere ever.
Hulu Says ‘Prey’ Is Its Biggest Movie or TV Series Premiere Ever
In its first three days of availability, “Prey,” the action-thriller prequel to “Predator,” which was released directly to Hulu, saw the highest number of viewing hours of any TV show or film on the Disney-owned platform.
Accordingly, over the course of three days, “Prey” had a higher total viewing time than “The Kardashians,” which Hulu claimed to be its biggest TV series launch at the time in April.
Disney made the decision not to give 20th Century Studios’ “Prey” a theater run. The movie debuted on August 5 on Hulu in the United States, Disney’s Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other regions.
“Prey” was also the most watched movie debut on Star+ in Latin America, according to Disney, and on Disney+ under the Star brand.
But as is sometimes the case with streaming services, Disney and Hulu are not disclosing how many hours exactly were spent watching “Prey.” On the other hand, Netflix does publish rankings and watching data for its titles, which are based on the total number of hours watched within a specific time frame.
“Prey” is set 300 years ago in the world of the Comanche Nation, decades before the events of the first “Predator” film released in 1987. It centers around Niru, a fearless and exceptionally talented fighter who grew up under the tutelage of some of the most fabled hunters to ever wander the Great Plains. She thus sets out to defend her people when danger approaches her camp.

The target she pursues and eventually confronts is revealed to be a highly developed extraterrestrial predator possessing an extremely sophisticated weaponry, leading to a brutal and horrifying confrontation between the two enemies.
Variety film critic Owen Gleiberman commented in his review, “‘Prey’ is competent and well-paced as an alien-attack thriller, though with little in the way of surprise.” “However, Niru’s journey gives it an emotional coherence that most ‘Predator’ films haven’t.”
The film features newbie Dakota Beavers, Amber Midthunder as Niru, Stormee Kipp, Julian Black Antelope, Michelle Thrush, and Dane DiPietro as the Predator.
Dan Trachtenberg is the director, Patrick Aison is the writer, and John Davis, Jhane Myers, and Marty Ewing are the producers. Executive producers Lawrence Gordon, Ben Rosenblatt, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Marc Tordoff are involved.
‘The Kardashians’ Becomes Hulu’s Most-Watched Premiere in America (EXCLUSIVE)
Exclusive to Variety, Hulu claims that “The Kardashians” is the biggest series debut in the company’s history in the United States.
The platform does not provide ratings; thus, the streamer did not reveal precise watching figures. The Disney-owned streamers have never released any real viewership data, other from subscriber counts, which Disney is required to disclose to shareholders.

Additionally, Hulu asserts that the new program is the most-watched Star Originals series on Disney+ and Star+ in all international countries, excluding Disney’s Marvel or “Star Wars” streaming properties.
According to a Hulu representative who talked with Variety, “The Kardashians” is the most watched Star Originals series debut on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ and Star+ worldwide to date.
Based on the number of hours of the debut episode watched in the first three days of the show’s release—since April 14—Hulu has broken records for “The Kardashians.”
After their legendary E! show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” which ran for 15 years, 20 seasons, and multiple spinoffs, the Kardashian-Jenners have returned with a new series called “The Kardashians.” “KUWTK” was canceled by the well-known family in 2020. They soon declared that they will be entering the Disney fold through a new agreement at Hulu.
As per the agreement, 40 episodes of “The Kardashians” will be released on Hulu over the course of ten seasons. Members of the family made jokes about wanting to do 20 more seasons of their new series, just as they did with their previous reality show at E! at the red-carpet premiere earlier this month.
The show that first made the family famous has been improved upon in the Hulu series. The family frequently breaks the fourth wall, and it is presented in a more documentary-style. Matriarch and mother Kris Jenner, along with her kids Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie Jenner, are the stars of “The Kardashians.”

When the Kardashian-Jenners debuted on E! in 2007, they became instant media attention. Since then, they have cleverly and skillfully utilized their television platform to become social media influencers, billionaire entrepreneurs, and A-list celebrities. They can earn millions of dollars from a single Instagram post and their products can sell out in a matter of seconds. The Kardashians have always been television stars, though, and they still use the platform as the foundation for all their side ventures, even despite their fame and prosperity.
When asked if there was a bidding war when the family departed E! in a March interview with Variety, Kris was reticent, stating only, “We had options for sure, but I’m not one to kiss and tell.”
Variety was informed by Dana Walden, Walt Disney Television’s chairman of entertainment, that Hulu’s programming strategy is personified by the Kardashians. The executive asked, “Who would you want more for your unscripted slate than the Kardashians?” “They are the ideal representation of our approach, which is to take bold but calculated risks and to place bets on exceptional talent and the best opportunities available in every genre.”
Executive producers of “The Kardashians” include the showrunner Danielle King, Ben Winston, Emma Conway, Elizabeth Jones, and Ryan Seacrest from Fulwell 73.
The best films of 2022: From ‘After sun’ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ to ‘RRR’
Including movies from Steven Spielberg, Park Chan-wook, Guillermo del Toro and Martin McDonagh, we pick ten stand-outs and some near-misses in what was a glorious year at the movies
In “After sun,” Paul Mescal, and in “Top Gun: Maverick,” Tom Cruise
Naturally, we did not do this until the very last day of 2022. Now, without further ado:
With this close-knit drama about a father-daughter connection, director Charlotte Wells makes one of the most striking debuts in recent memory. An adequate summer vacation is being had by 11-year-old Sophie (Francesca Corio) and her divorced father Calum (Paul Mescal, who even surpasses his Normal People performance), in a Turkish resort during the 1990s. However, there is something sinister beneath Calum’s endearing exterior, and when it comes to light, it is not dramatic, frightening, or particularly unexpected. It is simply heartbreaking beyond belief.
‘Prey’ Star Amber Midthunder Auditioned for the ‘Predator’ Film in English and Comanche
At the Hulu series “Prey” premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Hollywood newcomer Amber Midthunder wowed.
She told me about her dress on the Village Regency Theatre in Westwood’s arrivals carpet, “This is from the Sky-Eagle Collection.” It has been important to me to include always having an Indigenous designer, jewelry, or anything similar throughout this entire press tour. Thus, there has always been something Indigenous about my looks.
The fifth movie in the “Predator” series, “Prey,” is set in 1717 in the Comanche Nation. As Naru, a teenage warrior defending her tribe from a predator (Dane DiLiegro), Midthunder, an enrolled tribal member at the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Indian Reservation, plays the role.
